Extropic's Thermo Chip Achieves Closed-Loop Robot Motor Control
mjdramstead · x · 2026-08-06
Noumenal Labs congratulated Extropic on the launch of its Z1 chip, noting that the XTR-0 is the first thermo chip to successfully run robot motor control.
The demonstration achieved a complete closed-loop system: taking camera input, processing it through a neural network, computing via the thermo chip, and directly controlling the motors. The solar farm robot was steered using a physical thermal sample rather than relying on traditional random number simulation.
