Hugging Face CEO Clarifies: Open Model Regulation Should Differ from APIs

Following controversy over a previous analogy, Hugging Face co-founder Clément Delangue clarified his stance. He emphasized he is not advocating for zero regulation of open models, but rather arguing that good policy requires different regulations for open models, APIs, and applications. Comparing models to steel, he noted that while some steel regulation is needed, we 'crash-test' cars to make them safer rather than solely regulating the steel itself.
