Meta Launches Muse Code Terminal Coding Agent and Muse Spark 1.2 Model

Meta AI Research has officially released Muse Code (beta), a terminal coding agent powered by their newest model, Muse Spark 1.2. The tool is designed to handle complex software engineering tasks across large repositories, including planning changes, writing code, and validating results.
Key features of Muse Code include:
- Async Background Agents: Maintains specialized background agents that remain active throughout a session to avoid redundant information gathering, reducing latency and the need for steering.
- Runtime Design: Uses a local event log for all model calls, tool runs, and edits. This single source of truth enables replay-exact, restart-safe operations, allowing the agent to resume precisely after crashes during long-running tasks.
- Bundled Skills: Ships with default commands like /plan (generates an approval-gated plan), /grill (stress-tests the plan), and /goal (works toward completion).
It is available globally with a one-line installation on macOS and Linux.
