Jeff Dean Leaves Google After 27 Years to Found AI Science Startup

Google legend Jeff Dean is departing after nearly 27 years to start a public benefit corporation with long-time collaborator Sanjay Ghemawat. The new venture will focus on accelerating discoveries across machine learning, science, and engineering.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai confirmed the news, announcing that Google will support the startup as a founding investor and Cloud partner. During his tenure, Dean co-created foundational technologies including MapReduce, Bigtable, TensorFlow, and significantly pushed Google's TPU program.
