Wired: Google Loses Four Core AI Founders; Pichai Tried Multiple Times to Retain Them

Wired reports that despite taking a stake in the new venture, Google's loss is a devastating blow in the frantic AI model race. Departures include Jeff Dean, Ghemawat, DeepMind VP of Research Oriol Vinyals, and Google Brain co-founder Quoc Le.

Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai reportedly held multiple meetings attempting to retain them. Vinyals noted that large organizations inherently suffer from inertia that must be overcome to enact radical changes.
