Adrien Ecoffet created an interactive, musical animation simulating a simplified synapse to illustrate the distinct mechanisms of psychiatric drugs like SSRIs, MDMA, and psilocybin.
Although all these are "serotonin drugs," they function in very different ways. The project translates complex pharmacological pathways into an intuitive audiovisual experience, demonstrating the baseline neural activity in a no-drug condition.
