Refuting Open-Source AI Virus Threats: Consumer Hardware Can't Handle It

In response to recent warnings about a self-replicating AI worm based on open-source LLMs, the author strongly argues that this is pure fearmongering.

The core point is that open-weight models capable of expanding the threat surface cannot be run on random consumer or standard lab machines without immediately melting the box down and consuming all available resources. Because of this massive computational footprint, users would inevitably notice if their machine was compromised, making such autonomous generative adversaries impractical with current infrastructure.
