EU Begins Enforcing AI Act: Chatbots Must Disclose AI Identity
tekbog · x · 2026-08-05
The European Commission announced the official enforcement of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act starting August 2, alongside new transparency requirements.
Key rules include:
- Identity Disclosure: Chatbots and other interactive AI systems must clearly inform users when they are interacting with AI instead of a human.
- Content Labeling: Deepfakes (images, videos, or audio) and AI-generated or altered content must be clearly labelled and carry machine-readable marks for easier detection.
These measures aim to reduce deception and manipulation, helping users make informed choices. Over 180 organizations have already signed the Code of Practice on transparency for AI-generated content.
