Anthropic Reportedly Signs $10B Compute Deal with Volta for Six-Year Supply

智东西 · wechat · 2026-08-05

According to Bloomberg, Anthropic has signed a $10 billion, six-year compute contract with UK AI infrastructure unicorn Volta, averaging $1.67 billion annually. Volta will partner with Bitdeer to build a 133MW AI factory in Norway deploying Nvidia's Vera Rubin systems.

Founded just months ago, Volta also announced a $300 million funding round at a $2.4 billion valuation, with backing from Nvidia, Dell, and a16z. Its model uses non-dilutive infrastructure capital to lower the upfront financial barriers for AI labs to acquire compute.

As compute demand surges, the AI infrastructure race is shifting from pure chip access to a competition over financing structures and long-term capital operations.
