Ai4 2026 Kicks Off: Hinton and Ng to Debate AI Existential Risk on Stage

eyishazyer · x · 2026-08-05

Ai4 2026, North America's largest applied AI conference, has opened in Las Vegas with over 12,000 attendees and 400 exhibitors. The core theme has shifted from last year's "agents are coming" to "agents are deployed, now how do we govern them?"

The highlight of the event is the first-ever shared stage by Geoffrey Hinton, Fei-Fei Li, and Andrew Ng. Hinton has long warned of AI's existential threat to humanity, while Ng has dismissed such framing as harmful nonsense designed to slow down competitors. They will face off directly, alongside discussions on AI economics and commercialized autonomous driving.
