NVIDIA Launches Alpamayo 2 Super: An Open Reasoning Model for Autonomous Vehicles

NVIDIA officially announced the release of Alpamayo 2 Super, an open reasoning model designed specifically for autonomous vehicles. Jensen Huang stated that beyond just seeing, the model understands and reasons through complex worlds, enabling it to 'think before it acts.'
Intended as a powerful backbone for robotaxis, trucks, shuttles, and delivery robots, the model is released under the OpenMDW-1.1 license for commercial use, allowing teams to inspect, fine-tune, and deploy it. Industry observers note that this move will do for robotics what open-weight LLMs did for text, drastically accelerating humanoid robots and autonomous driving by letting developers customize a foundational model rather than building from scratch.
