SIEVE Retrieval Method: Saves Deep-Research Agents up to 50% Tokens
_reachsumit · x · 2026-08-05
To address the context redundancy caused by existing deep-research agents fetching and reading entire web pages, this paper introduces the SIEVE interface.
It employs fielded Boolean retrieval (BQL) to filter candidate documents, ranks them, presents structure-rich cards for inspection, and fetches only the selected sections. Across three QA collections, SIEVE achieves higher accuracy than conventional Search-Visit configurations while using 20.7% to 50.6% fewer tokens.
