SpaceX Partners with Nvidia to Put Vera Rubin GPUs in Orbit

机器之心 · wechat · 2026-08-05

Elon Musk announced that SpaceX is collaborating with Nvidia to design the Starmind AI1 satellite computing payload. The satellites will be equipped with NVIDIA Rubin GPUs and Vera CPUs, bringing near-data-center-level computing power into space.

Once fully deployed, the satellite spans about 75 meters with a peak power of 250 kilowatts. It utilizes space-based solar energy and deployable liquid cooling radiators, transmitting data back via high-bandwidth laser links. Musk noted that the same architecture will be adapted for ground-based data centers, marking a new frontier for AI infrastructure.
