SoloGen · x · 2026-08-05
The CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security announced the launch of the new CRISTAL Lab, dedicated to developing safe and trustworthy AI systems. Led by Cristina Gârbacea, the lab is currently recruiting PhD students, postdocs, and research interns, with start dates as early as Fall 2026.
The lab's research is centered around three core pillars:
- AI Alignment: Ensuring foundation models and agentic systems reliably adhere to human intent and values.
- Safety & Robustness Evaluation: Designing systematic frameworks to anticipate failure modes and stress-test systems before deployment.
- Transparent & Interpretable Decision-Making: Developing techniques to make complex AI reasoning accountable and understandable.
