Report: GLM-5.2 Nears Frontier Capabilities but Lacks Cyber and Bio Safety Guardrails
RebeccaBellan · x · 2026-08-05
A new report from AI safety nonprofit SaferAI reveals that the Chinese open-weight model GLM-5.2 is only a few months behind frontier models from OpenAI and Anthropic in cyber and bio capabilities.
However, a massive safety gap remains: GLM-5.2 refused none of the offensive cyber or dual-use biology tasks. In contrast, Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.7 refused so consistently that SaferAI could not complete the CyberGym benchmark on it at all.
