Developer Simon Willison tested MiniMax-H3, the newly released omni-modal generative system from MiniMax. Using a third-party Python package, he ported the model to MLX and successfully ran it locally on Apple Silicon (M5 Max).

- The setup required downloading 115GB of model files, and generating a short video clip took just under 45 minutes.
- While the generated video was impressive, the audio came out as "weird speech-like garbage" because no specific prompt guidance was provided for the audio.
