AI scholar David Manheim has rebutted Ed Zitron's prediction that OpenAI would collapse by August 2026 unless it created an "entirely new form of AI."

He points out that OpenAI has already created entirely new forms of AI twice: reasoning models and agentic systems. Therefore, the assumption that further innovation wasn't already baked in is fundamentally flawed.
