a16z announced it is co-leading the Series A for Volta, a neocloud platform targeting the compute access disparity for AI startups.\n\nWhile hyperscalers require investment-grade balance sheets for long-term GPU and power commitments, most startups are funded only 18 months at a time. Volta solves this by assembling credit support, project equity, and debt behind each deployment. The company has already signed a $10B strategic partnership for a 133 MW deployment in Norway and a $5B infrastructure program with Azora.
