Ex-Director Sues Mayo Clinic Over Retaliation for Flagging AI Safety Violations

A federal lawsuit alleges that Mayo Clinic fired a former Director of Research Operations for raising concerns about serious lapses in its AI research practices. The complaint accuses the health system of bypassing patient privacy rules and IRB oversight when sharing data globally.
Furthermore, the lawsuit claims that researchers manipulated data for Mayo's AI assistant, MAYA, by deleting unfavorable results. The director was originally hired to align the clinic with federal AI governance standards before facing alleged retaliation.
