Addressing recent narratives about Anthropic being placed on a Chinese entity list, Kevin Xu clarifies that Anthropic and OpenAI proactively chose not to do business in China, rather than being blocked.
He emphasizes that Anthropic, as a free enterprise, has the right to choose its partners. Furthermore, since Claude is actually very popular among Chinese developers, treating the company as a bargaining chip in bilateral negotiations is baseless.
