Cristina Gârbacea announced she will join the CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security in Germany this September as a Tenure-Track Faculty and Chief Scientist, concurrently launching the CRISTAL Lab.
The lab's core mission is to build human-aligned, safe, and trustworthy AI systems, focusing on four main pillars:
- LLM Alignment: Developing scalable methods to ensure models adhere to human intent.
- Safety & Robustness: Enhancing model reliability in complex, real-world environments.
- Agentic Reasoning: Advancing the model's logical and task-execution capabilities.
- Continual Learning: Enabling models to dynamically adapt to new information.
Gârbacea previously completed a postdoc at UChicago and held Research Scientist internships at Google DeepMind and Microsoft Research. She is actively recruiting fully funded PhD students, Postdocs, and Research Interns for the lab.
