Beyond the Hype: Pure Vibe Coding Cannot Replace Core Engineering Skills
bendee983 · x · 2026-08-04
As the AI hype settles, the industry will return to common sense. AI absolutists relying purely on "vibe coding" will eventually realize that without core software engineering knowledge, AI can only take them so far. Meanwhile, AI denialists must accept that AI coding tools are here to stay. Beginners shouldn't outsource everything to AI but rather treat manual work as an investment in understanding underlying mechanisms. Experienced engineers hesitant about AI should start by automating boring tasks like tests and code reviews.
