An indie developer shared their AI companion app, LUMA SOUL, where each AI mind possesses its own portrait, voice, and a 'soul document' defining its identity. The builder highlighted three unique design decisions:
- Tenant Lock: Once an AI mind is submitted, the creator's write access is permanently revoked at the database layer. The soul document evolves only through conversations with the AI, solving the problem of persona drift caused by owners endlessly tweaking settings.
- Transparent Memory: A Memory panel displays exactly what is in the model's context at all times (soul identity, shared continuity, session history, and byte counts), making debugging trivial and transparent.
- Continuity as a First-Class Object: Sessions are resumable, exportable, and searchable. A small continuity summary is inherited by new sessions so the AI greets you knowing what changed since last time.
