Apple has filed for a preliminary injunction against OpenAI, accusing the company of stealing its trade secrets and asking a federal judge to place OpenAI under forensic supervision.

According to sworn declarations filed by Apple, former employee Chang Liu exploited a bug to steal thousands of pages of sensitive R&D data while working at OpenAI. Former VP Tang Yew Tan allegedly used internal codenames to elicit secrets from job candidates, and OpenAI recruiters reportedly coached staff on how to bypass Apple's security.

Apple argues this is a deliberate theft rather than mere hiring, demanding expedited discovery and forensic inspection of OpenAI's devices and cloud storage.
