Inspired by Karpathy: Opus Model Recreates Star Wars Opening in 3D Over 8 Hours

Inspired by Andrej Karpathy's recent experiment, a developer provided the Claude Opus model with the opening script of Star Wars: A New Hope. The model autonomously wrote code, generated all SVG assets, and recreated the entire sequence in Three.js using a LEGO style, complete with editing and voiceovers.

The model worked continuously for 8 hours to finish the project. The author notes that compared to end-to-end diffusion models, pairing LLMs with 3D rendering software offers a more artful and aesthetically coherent direction for AI filmmaking, predicting a boom in AI-generated 3D short films by 2029.
