UK Customer Loses £14k in Fraud Linked to Claude AI Credits

A Metro Bank customer in the UK, Zoli Rutter, has lost over £14,000 in a fraud scheme involving the AI chatbot Claude. Scammers used his financial details to purchase credits for the Anthropic-owned tool.
Although the bank messaged the customer to verify the transaction's legitimacy and received a negative reply, subsequent unauthorized transactions still went through. This is the latest fraud case linked to Claude, following previous reports of US users having their credit cards used to buy Claude gift cards.
