A user says MiniMax video generation feels mysteriously slow on local H100s compared with the API, and asks what explains the gap.
- On their setup, generating a 10-second, 0.4-megapixel video with a 12-second input video plus four images can still take 20–30 minutes.
- Through the API, the same kind of work reportedly finishes in just a few minutes even with nine reference images and reference videos.
- The author says they already account for optimizations like quantization and SageAttention, and cannot imagine hardware that would be 10× faster than an H100, so the remaining question is whether the API uses a very different serving stack or some other hidden optimization.
