Cloudflare says Durable Objects and containers should power agentic compute together

irvinebroque · x · 2026-08-04

Cloudflare says the logic that orchestrates compute often has very different resource needs from the compute itself, and argues you do not always need a large box just to run inference or tests.

The company says it is working to make Durable Objects and containers work together more seamlessly as compute primitives for agentic workloads. The goal is to colocate stateful DOs with containers, keep agent harness state in sync even after crashes, and support fast disk dehydration/hydration plus programmatic scaling of resources.
