- Dev sessions now use up to 90% less RAM, with faster builds, type checking, and server-side rendering.
- It adds version-matched docs for coding agents, fewer prefetch requests, better caching for static assets, custom error boundaries, and built-in glob imports.
- The new Instant Navigations suite aims to make Next.js feel more like an SPA, with partial prefetching, instant loading shells, a navigation inspector, and Playwright helpers for regression tests.
- Vercel says these navigation behaviors will become the default in a future major release.
