83 Sciences says frontier models can still discover new materials even after the public web is exhausted.
The company argues that nearly 90% of scientific experimental data is never published, and that training on published, unpublished, hidden, and failed experiments opens up new materials-discovery opportunities. It claims that in just two months it found a novel material and drafted a manuscript.
The pitch is aimed at two customer groups:
- Industrial R&D teams that want scalable, application-specific materials beyond what frontier models can predict.
- Academic labs that want to turn decades of unpublished data into papers, citations, and commercialization revenue through the company’s research tools.
