OpenAI's Codex and Chat App Merge Causes User Confusion
DimitrisPapail · x · 2026-08-04
A developer complained on X about the confusing experience following OpenAI's merger of the Codex and Chat apps.
They pointed out that the merged interface is highly perplexing: it's hard to tell what the Pro tier actually offers (is it 5.6 Ultra?) or whether users should chat in the new merged app or the classic one. Furthermore, ChatGPT in the new app feels like Codex on the cloud, but surprisingly, it runs slower than the original Codex.
