AI Decouples Effort, Quality, and Taste in Knowledge Work

AI is profoundly disrupting knowledge work by decoupling effort, quality, and taste. In mathematics, for instance, people can now produce high-quality results with minimal effort and no taste.
The pursuit of brand-name conjectures currently masks this trend, as the importance of these problems is universally agreed upon. However, once the supply of preselected problems is exhausted, taste for identifying interesting problems will become the scarce resource.
