Over 200 economists and AI researchers, including 16 Nobel laureates, have signed a statement warning that AI could reshape the global economy faster and on a larger scale than the Industrial Revolution.
The core argument emphasizes that AI should be steered toward complementing humans rather than merely imitating and replacing them. While replacing workers is easy to price, building tools that empower people creates new markets, lowers costs, and generates more widely dispersed long-term benefits.
