Offline dictation on Windows: Parakeet v3 int8 CPU, batch processing
eustin · reddit · 2026-08-03
A dev shares his paid app (a fork of Handy) for offline dictation on Windows. It uses Parakeet TDT 0.6B v3 int8 ONNX (478 MB), CPU-only, no GPU needed. Push-to-talk hotkey, transcribe, paste into focused window. Post-processing is rules-based, not LLM, with presets for prose/code/email, personal dictionary, and snippet expander. A batch tab processes audio/video files and writes .txt. Limits: Windows 10/11 x64 only, rules can't fix mangled sentences, 25 languages. Free tier: 21 dictations/day, one-time license.
