Obsidian Ships Official CLI: Manage Notes and Plugins from Terminal
dSebastien · x · 2026-08-03
Obsidian has released its official Command Line Interface (CLI) with version 1.12, allowing users to drive their entire Vault directly from the terminal.
The tool supports searching, creating notes, editing properties, managing tags and bookmarks, and even executing in-app plugin commands or installing/debugging plugins. The official CLI solves the pain point of third-party tools lacking deep integration with Obsidian's underlying index, providing massive convenience for automating note processing via scripts or integrating with Large Language Models (LLMs).
