tokenbender · x · 2026-08-03
Addressing recent discussions about restricted access to MiniMax models, the author revealed further details. After communicating with the MiniMax team, he shared that users from the US, EU, UK, and South Korea can now gain model access shortly by simply signing a waiver.
The reason for this complicated logistics is an ongoing lawsuit filed by Disney. To ensure the model can remain open-source and fully compliant with regulations, MiniMax had to implement these temporary measures. Furthermore, the team is currently developing a more formal and user-friendly self-service URL to streamline the application process.
