Google TPU Demand Surge: Projected to Reach 15M Units by 2028
SumitGup · x · 2026-08-03
Google is reportedly expanding orders for its Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), with demand projected to hit 15 million units by 2028, potentially surpassing Nvidia's current annual volume of 13 million.
Because Nvidia has pre-booked over 50% of TSMC's CoWoS advanced packaging capacity for the next three years, Google has turned to Intel for EMIB-T packaging for some of its TPU v9 chips. MediaTek has secured the IC design orders for TPU v9, while TSMC, Foxconn, and Inventec are also set to benefit as key manufacturing partners.
