Microsoft Open Sources Skill Recorder: Turns Screen Recording into Agent Skills
lxfater · x · 2026-08-03
Microsoft open-sourced the Skill Recorder project on GitHub. Unlike traditional RPA tools that rigidly record and replay mouse clicks, this desktop app analyzes screen recordings to understand the user's underlying intent, reconstructing it into ordered steps to build a reusable Skill.
For instance, if it notices you compressing a video via a GUI, it might suggest using FFmpeg instead. The generated skills can be integrated directly into Microsoft Scout or Copilot Studio.
