Opinion: AI-Assisted Electronics Design Mirrors Early AI Coding

Developer John Whitaker notes that AI-assisted electronics design currently feels very much like early AI-assisted coding. It performs best on simple, highly in-distribution tasks. While experts can easily spot its silly mistakes and a watchful eye is still required, it already significantly accelerates workflows by handling boilerplate and boring bits. He suggests we extrapolate the future trajectory accordingly.
