Adam Jacob: AI Agents Will Spawn a New Category of 'Adaptive Software'

Adam Jacob, founder of System Initiative, proposes that AI will give rise to a completely new software category: adaptive software. He envisions a future moving away from static, vertical applications towards core architectures driven by AI agents, where domain experts can reliably modify systems to fit their specific environments and needs.
While teaching regular users the necessary software skills remains a current barrier, Jacob argues that AI's purpose is to bridge this gap, allowing software to become supple enough to adapt to the user rather than constraining them.
