SafeAI: Open-Source Static Scanner for AI Agent Security Risks Pre-Deployment
IkarusCareer · reddit · 2026-08-03
A developer has introduced SafeAI, an open-source static security scanner designed to identify security and governance issues in AI agents before they reach production, functioning much like traditional SAST tools.
The tool performs static analysis on AI projects to automatically discover:
- AI frameworks and agent architectures
- Agent capabilities and permissions
- Prompt injection risks
- Tool security issues
- Identity and memory risks
- Governance and autonomy concerns
- AI components like prompts, skills, and workflows
During development, the team found several meaningful security vulnerabilities in well-known open-source agent frameworks. The project is currently seeking community contributors and testers to run the scanner against real-world repositories built with frameworks like LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, and MCP servers.
