A podcast host shared an observation about academic guests: they generally fall into two categories.
- Senior Scholars/Founders (PIs): Provide a "view from above," explaining where a field is heading, why a direction became popular, and what they were wrong about ten years ago.
- Lead Authors/Researchers: Much closer to the actual work and technical details, able to explain why the loss curve does something strange at step 3000.
He noted that neither is better; they are simply two different types of shows, and asked the audience which perspective they actually prefer to listen to.
