A developer open-sourced Parlor v2, a best-effort fully local clone of GPT-Live. They previously attempted to fine-tune Gemma 4 12B by grafting a decision tick and speech head to create a full-duplex model, but the trials failed.
They concluded that for now, a classic cascade system (STT + LLM + TTS) remains the best approach for local real-time voice interaction. A true full-duplex model still requires future releases from frontier AI companies.
