Tacta Systems emerges from stealth with $75M, launches dexterous robot hand TactaBot

Tacta Systems, a Palo Alto robotics startup, has come out of stealth with $75M in funding and a dexterity platform, TactaBot, aimed at high-value manufacturing.
TactaBot consists of three parts:
- Tacta Hand: a human-scale robotic hand with 15 independently actuated joints, using proprietary "Fluidic Tendon" actuation, pitched as reliable for millions of factory cycles.
- Tacta Sensor: a tiny tactile sensor reading force from 250 Pa to 700,000 Pa, sampling at 400 Hz, resolving temperature to 0.1 °C.
- Skill Capture: a data system built around the Tacta Glove, which contains the same sensor embedded in a glove for factory workers.
Tacta's vision sees three fingers as sufficient for all tasks, similar to what mimicrobotics is doing, but with three fingers instead of five.
