Same Price Tier, Different Worlds: DeepSeek V4 Outperforms GPT-5.6 in Canvas Tests
eyishazyer · x · 2026-08-03
Following OpenAI's massive price cut for GPT-5.6 Luna, it now falls into the same price bracket as DeepSeek V4 Flash. A developer pitted them against each other in three Canvas generation tests:
- Rubik's Cube: DeepSeek executed every rotation cleanly, while Luna suffered from bugs with stickers flying off mid-move.
- Fireworks: Both handled the basics, but Luna lagged significantly during the explosion burst.
- Pen Writing: Neither produced legible text, but DeepSeek's cursive was relatively flowing, whereas Luna gave up on animation entirely and rendered a static image.
The hands-on comparison reveals DeepSeek's clear advantage in multimodal dynamic generation at an equivalent budget.
