Hugging Face CEO: AI Will Make The World Safer, We Must Accelerate
jdjohnson · x · 2026-08-02
In response to recent AI-powered cyberattacks, Hugging Face CEO Clement Delangue argues that we should accelerate, not slow down AI development. Like most major technologies, he believes AI will ultimately make the world safer.
He noted that defenders have already successfully used open-source AI models to stop AI-driven cyberattacks. These systems can potentially defend against millions of attacks daily and fix vulnerabilities before exploitation. To achieve this, he proposes three key actions:
- Increase transparency: Mandate trace sharing and incident disclosure for agent-based cyberattacks.
- Maintain deterrence: Keep AI-powered cyberattacks illegal with meaningful penalties.
- Equip defenders: Provide security teams with the best AI tools, especially open-source models.
