Dev Uses ChatGPT Codex Loop to Generate Realistic 3D Port Simulator
StianWalgermo · x · 2026-08-02
A developer demonstrated the powerful capability of running ChatGPT (Codex) in a loop with in-app browser visual validation. Through multiple iterations, the AI successfully generated a realistic "World simulator" of Kristiansund harbour using Three.js.
Built entirely by the model without any pre-made models or assets, the simulator integrates live APIs for real-world weather (cloud coverage, temperature, fog, rain, sun/moon placement), sea-level data, and public maps (seaways, roads, topology, lidar scans). It also features a day/night cycle. The author noted that the model's visual modality was highly beneficial during the iterative refinement process.
