Pushing back against the recent narrative that 'AI is making mathematicians and physicists nearly obsolete,' Eric Weinstein argues that AI's current achievements in pure math are overstated and its 'style' is weirdly being mistaken for universal intelligence.
To prove that top human scholars are irreplaceable, he plans to propose a benchmark of 10 math physics problems. These are not issues that can be solved by searching large spaces for counter-examples, but rather require deeply human intuition that humans will likely solve.
