Lead Architect of EU AI Act Resigns, Calls the Regulation a 'Disaster'

Gabriele Mazzini, the primary architect of the EU's AI Act, stated in a recent interview with NZZ that the final regulation is a "disaster" and the exact opposite of what he intended to achieve.
Having invested years into drafting the legislation, Mazzini felt the final text morphed into a "monster" that fails to serve its original purpose. Unable to reconcile continuing his work on the act with his conscience, he resigned from his senior post at the European Commission, sharing insider details on how the legislation went off the rails.
