Google briefly allowed users to modify satellite imagery in Google Earth using AI before quickly reversing the decision due to misinformation fears.
The feature integrated the Nano Banana 2 image generator, making it easy for anyone to alter authentic images of real locations. After users shared fake disaster scenes, Google recognized the severe misleading potential and pulled the plug.
